Have a spare half-hour between classes? That’s all the time you need to get some serious cardio in with the SRWC’s 30 minute-long Spin class!

Spin is an indoor-cycling program that employs high-performance stationary racing bikes for participants to use in a fun, safe group fitness environment. As part of the 30 minute spin class, participants will build cardiovascular stamina and endurance with hill climb replication.

“It’s especially beneficial to people who are just learning to work out,” said class instructor Jen Ratanapuram. “This class is a fun, short and effective introduction to spinning as well as fitness in general.”

Jen also noted that students typically take the short class as a cardiovascular exercise before or after their weight training. It serves as the perfect complement for breaking up and completing a workout.

“Besides the obvious convenience, the group fitness class atmosphere is very motivational and fun,” assured Jen. “You get to build relationships, work out with your friends and have people keep you accountable!”

The class also counts for the 150 Dare challenge, a semester-long challenge where members can log cardio miles for a prize.

The 30 minute spin class takes place on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3 to 3:30 p.m. in the SRWC Spin Zone.
