plant a plant

Did you know that in addition to helping the environment, planting your own plants can help reduce carbon dioxide levels, reduce stress and keep air temperatures normal? To help you get a head start on your personal garden, the SRWC, Sustain U, Grow Beach and Beach Pride Events are teaming up to bring you a favorite ASI event: Plant A Plant!

The event will take place on Tuesday, April 23 from 4 - 6 p.m. in front of the SRWC. Join us for this fun and plant-filled program where you’ll learn about the different plants, their appropriate seasons and what exactly they need in order to flourish in your personal garden.

“Sustain U, Grow Beach, Beach Balance, Beach Pride Events -- we all have a shared vision for all of this,” said Christopher Huebner, the SRWC Outdoor Adventures and wellness coordinator. “We’re hoping students get the chance to see how great it feels to plant something and take that responsibility on.”

And to make this event even more impactful, students will be using recycled 2 liter bottles to create DIY pots for the plant!
