Chey Yalonis is a senior at Long Beach State working at the Student Recreation & Wellness Center (SRWC) rock wall teaching students how to embrace their strengths and be their best selves.

Madison Robello is a senior majoring in dietetics & food administration and minoring in food science at Long Beach State (LBSU) hoping to become a registered dietician. From a young age, she’s held a passion for health and fitness. This growing interest in health education lead her to a job at the Student Recreation and Wellness center (SRWC) as the beach balance lead.

As it is with any ASI service, the hard work of students like Muriel Valencia has allowed Beach Balance to thrive as a leading wellness resource at Long Beach State. From sophomore year to graduation, Muriel was a critical component of Beach Balance’s operations, and with her help, the service has expanded and improved by any metric. Alongside Beach Balance, Muriel experienced some growth of her own.

Having worked for SRWC Intramurals for five years, nutritional science graduate student Allyson Yoshinaga has found a supportive network and new skills to move forward with.

Though there are many words to describe Miguel Ituralde, supervisor for the Open Basketball League, his positivity and passion are by far his most notable traits. At the SRWC, he works hard to ensure that the league runs smoothly – that includes hiring officials, keeping track of teams and members, answering students’ questions and making sure that no corners are cut in preparation for Thursday night games.

For fourth-year aerospace engineering major Luke Lawson, work at the SRWC offers a hands-on experience and plenty of career application for his future. He began as a membership associate in June 2016 and added a position as rock wall & outdoor adventures facilitator in August of the same year.
