Spring is typically associated with flowers, cleaning and allergies – but at the SRWC, it’s all about the water! Throughout the next few months, SRWC Aquatics has several water-related activities for you to enjoy.

Pool Play Fridays

Enjoy the intersection of sports and the pool! Each month, the aquatics team will be showcasing a new aquatic event that members can play, including underwater hockey, inner tube basketball, inner tube water polo and more. Check it out each Friday of the semester from 1:30 to 4 p.m. at the Aquatic Center.

Key Log Rolling

Come learn how to balance on the key log, a cylindrical log that floats, spins and rolls like a wooden log in water! If you are one of the first 25 people to last on the log for two minutes, you’ll be able to win a free gift certificate for one large smoothie at Robeks. Key log rolling activities takes place every Thursday of the semester from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Aquatic Center.

Swim Into Shape

Swim 20 miles and get a free T-Shirt! Every first Friday of the month, SRWC Aquatics offers a free clinic for those who want to improve their stroke. It takes place from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 12:15 to 1:15 p.m. Participants can join one of four groups – beginner, intermediate, advanced and swimmer – allowing people of all levels and interests to engage with unique, tailored instruction.

Swim Lessons/Life Guard Certification

Throughout the semester, sign up for private swim lessons for contextualized, unique instruction and training on helping you swim well! For students, a single session is $35, and a package of five sessions is $150. You can also receive an American Red Cross Life Guard Certification on 18 different occasions; registration ends each Friday before the week of the program. Find the dates at

“Come out, cool out and chill at the Aquatic Center this spring – there’s plenty of opportunities to learn new activities and have fun with friends!” exclaimed Aquatics and Inclusive Recreation Coordinator Michael Freeman.
