Long Beach State alumnus Dave Ritter is proof that the healthy habits we develop during the busiest times in our lives will stick with us for decades to come.Having graduated in 1985, Dave has been balancing his busy work life as a salesman in the food industry with his robust personal life, which has included raising two children, maintaining mental wellness and, of course, staying in shape at the gym.

As one of the SRWC’s most consistent members, Shirley Armes is proof that the Rec Center’s top-of-the-line equipment and facilities are not restricted to current LBSU students. Shirley is an alumna from 1970, and she still carries her pride for The Beach with her everywhere she goes.

Third year Human Development major Luke McCandless frequents the SRWC rock wall—and has ended up with many good friends because of it! “The rock wall staff are very friendly, and it’s a very safe, open space for new people to come,” said McCandless.

Having witnessed enormous changes on campus over the years, CSULB alumni Tom Walton relishes one in particular: the Student Recreation & Wellness Center. Tom graduated from CSULB in 1969, “back when dinosaurs existed,” he joked. He worked for the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) for 40 years before retiring 13 years ago.
