Did you know that some of the best camping opportunities are right here at The Beach? If you’re looking for a simple, yet exciting one-day camping trip full of fun activities, you don’t have to look too far! One of the best ways to explore camping is through the Rock & Outdoor Adventure (ROA) department: a branch of our beloved Student Recreation & Wellness Center (SRWC). The ROA trips offered here at Long Beach State University (LBSU) are guided tours designed to eliminate the burden of planning while still providing an authentic outdoor experience.
Intramural leagues are back! This fall the SRWC is offering a wide variety of intramural sports including, indoor soccer Monday evenings, flag football and coed volleyball Tuesday evenings, coed basketball and open soccer Wednesday evenings, open basketball and sand volleyball Thursday evenings, and women's and open soccer Friday afternoons.
A new semester often brings a wide range of new goals. From managing stress, improving sleep, staying active and finding balance all between academics, work and personal life. While motivation can help students get started, building lasting habits takes time and support. That’s where wellness coaching comes in.

With the end of the spring semester around the corner, the Student Recreation and Wellness Center's (SRWC) intramural season has concluded. Close to 600 students participated this semester in both our intramural leagues and tournaments.
The Soccer Tennis tournament was one of the most popular events last year. Students asked for its return, and by popular demand, we listened. Now, Soccer Tennis is making a comeback—known for its fun mix of soccer juggling skills and tennis-style gameplay that allows participants of all skill levels to compete.
For sports fans, spring is often associated with the beginning of both the NBA and NHL playoffs, the NFL draft, and most importantly the start of the MLB season. Baseball has always been known as America’s favorite pastime and has established itself as one of the top three most lucrative sports leagues in the world.

The Owen’s Condition for Tuition scholarship challenge is back for the 15th year at the Student Recreation & Wellness Center (SRWC). The program starts on the first day of the fall semester and runs continuously through the end of April. It is completely FREE to join and any currently enrolled students for the current academic year are eligible to participate.
The goal of the challenge is to use the SRWC 50 different times throughout the academic year to do a workout or wellness-related activity. Each visit equals one point which students will redeem by scanning their barcode at the computer scanner on the front desk right before exiting the gates to leave the facility.
Anyone who completes the program by earning 50 points will receive:
Students who complete at least 25 points will receive a halfway prize.
At the end of the spring semester, the SRWC hosts a celebration event to honor all the hard work students dedicated towards their health and wellness by participating in Owen's Condition for Tuition (OCFT). The event provides:
The grand prize winner of tuition will also be announced at the end of the event and must be present to win.

Each year, at the Owen’s Condition For Tuition (OCFT) finale celebration, one lucky student receives a check for a semester of free tuition. Everyone who participates is invited to the event, which provides free food, fun activities and opportunity drawings for other awesome prizes before pulling the name of the tuition winner as the grand finale.

Want to experience working out in a small-group setting with expert trainers?
For a minimal fee—less than half of what private sector trainers charge—you can join one of the several SRWC instructional classes. Trainers design the classes to be progressive so that participants achieve new skill levels. Additionally, class sizes are intentionally small, ranging from 8 to 20 participants, to get hands-on, one-on-one training.

Love Your Body Week (LYBW) is back this semester starting April 4. LYBW is a week dedicated to body positivity, self-acceptance and overall wellness. Events throughout the week focus on body-positive ideals, which can assist in building confidence as well as encouraging people to love and accept themselves.
