Hey LBSU students! Aside from all the intrinsic benefits you reap from your workouts, did you know the Student Recreation and Wellness Center (SRWC) rewards you for working on your wellness? That’s right, you can even be rewarded with a tuition-free semester, but you have to keep reading to find out how!

Owen’s Condition for Tuition is the annual scholarship challenge hosted at the SRWC. Founded in 2011 by the Owen family, the purpose of the program is to encourage students to commit to self-care and live healthy lifestyles throughout college, and beyond. Any currently enrolled student can participate in-person, by signing up at the front desk of the SRWC, or online, by completing this survey.

The program begins at the start of the fall semester and all points must be redeemed by April 29. Each participant who earns 50 points is entered into the opportunity drawing for the grand prize of one semester of undergraduate-level tuition. Although there is only one person who walks away with the free tuition, every finisher receives a prize for completing the program, and everyone who earns at least 25 points receives a prize for reaching the halfway mark. The SRWC also hosts a finale event to celebrate the accomplishments of all the participants at the end of the spring semester. At that event, any participant, regardless of number of points, is entered into an opportunity drawing for some other great prizes.

New to the university this semester? Or didn’t sign up in the fall? Don’t sweat it, there is still time to earn all 50 points if you sign up by Feb. 22. If you miss this deadline, don’t let that discourage your choice to participate. The halfway prize is still in your reach along with the abundance of wellness benefits that have nothing to do with prizes, like improving your overall well-being.

We have had many success stories from Owen’s Condition For Tuition participants in the past. Interested in hearing what our previous winner had to say about the challenge? Visit asirecreation.org/recreport to read about what Raya Torres had to say about the program.
