Program Highlight

Slap on some sunscreen, soak in the sun and take part in the free spring 3x3 Volleyball Tournament! It will follow traditional volleyball rules and hold to a best of three series. Students, faculty, staff and alumni are all invited to participate.

“The tournament provides an opportunity to get involved in the sport, have some fun competition for a day, without having to commit to a full semester,” said Intramural Sports Director Glenn McDonald.

This volleyball tournament offers students a chance to take a fun break and de-stress before finals get underway. It will be played on the sand courts at the SRWC on Saturday, May 7, starting at 10 a.m., and winners will be awarded a prize.

Unlike other tournaments; however, walk-in participants will not be taken. In order to participate in the tournament, a team member must sign up at the SRWC intramural office (located in the equipment checkout area) by Thursday, May 5. But if you happen to miss the cutoff, you are still encouraged to come by and hang out.

“Whether playing in a tournament or in the intramural leagues, you are met with opportunities to meet new people, relax and enjoy yourself,” said McDonald. “Intramurals are fun and competition all in one!”

The SRWC holds monthly tournaments, like racquetball, badminton and volleyball. For more information, visit www.asirecreation.org/aquatics/outdoor-volleyball.
