A new semester often brings a wide range of new goals. From managing stress, improving sleep, staying active and finding balance all between academics, work and personal life. While motivation can help students get started, building lasting habits takes time and support. That’s where wellness coaching comes in.
The wellness coaching program is a free, peer-led resource for Long Beach State University (LBSU) students, led by dedicated, student coaches Gaby and Gianna. Peer wellness coaching allows students to connect with other students in their Beach Family who understand the challenges of college life. Not only can this community bring understanding but can provide support in developing healthy habits and improving overall well-being.
Each coaching session offers a supportive, judgment-free space where students can discuss goals and obstacles, set realistic, wellness objectives and break larger, challenging changes into manageable steps. Sessions are available both virtually and in person to accommodate busy and changing schedules.
All wellness coaches have completed preparation coursework through the American Council on Exercise (ACE) Health Coach Certification program. The wellness coaching program is free, confidential and open to all students, including first-year, transfer and graduating seniors. Students can sign up by booking an appointment through the SRWC GO app or by visiting the SRWC website once the program launches.
Wellness coaching provides students with personalized support as they work toward healthier lifestyles throughout the semester. Here at LBSU it is important to take advantage of these free opportunities that allow you to foster life-changing habits, cultivate a healthy mind and bond within your Beach Family community.
