Here at the Student Wellness & Recreation (SRWC), inclusivity is a core value, and we work hard to create an environment where every student feels welcome and supported throughout the facilities and programs. We are committed to promoting inclusivity in everything we do, and we encourage students to embrace it as well.
This semester we have seen a significant increase in participation in our inclusive events. So far, we have hosted our Dark Climb event at the SRWC Rockwall, where over 30 students joined in on the fun! This is a huge improvement in comparison to past Dark Climb events, and our staff is thrilled to see more students getting involved. Seeing this growth motivates us to continue expanding our reach and making our events even more engaging.
More recently, we hosted our Mario Kart Wheelchair Race, an interactive event where students navigated a course using our sports wheelchairs. After the race, participants received an opportunity to win gift cards in our exciting giveaway. This fun event brought in over 20 participants, and we were excited to see students not only having fun but also gaining a new perspective on adaptive sports.
Our next inclusive event is Dark Climb which will take place on Thursday, March 27, from 5 to 7 p.m. This event is open to all students, so come join in on the fun and challenge yourself.
In addition to our inclusive events, we also have interactive sports equipment like beep ball and goal ball. This equipment can be set up for anyone interested in trying it out. Take advantage of these opportunities to learn more about inclusivity and experience something new!
