Looking for something fun to do this semester? Then look no further than ASI’s Esports Tournament Series! The Student Recreation & Wellness Center is partnering with the USU Games Center and the CSULB Esports and Gaming Association in hosting six esports tournaments free of charge for all students. This semester’s line-up includes fan-favorites like Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and Valorant, while also including new titles like Street Fighter 6 and Counter Strike. Tournaments will take place in the newly renovated USU Esports Lounge (formally the Sticks Lounge), which now features 10 state of the art gaming computers as well as up to date consoles and game titles. The Esports Lounge not only offers students a place to game but also provides a great place to hang out with friends. The fully stocked concession stand provides all the snacks needed for a quick gaming session or an opportunity to catch up on your favorite show.
Sign-ups have already begun so don’t wait! If you are interested in participating but do not have a team, don’t worry! Sign up as a free agent and staff will place you on a team. Valorant, Overwatch 2 and Counter Strike will require teams to qualify online prior to our in-person events. For more information, you can check out www.asirecreation.org or join the intramural discord. Our first tournament is Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Sept. 15, starting at 5:30 p.m., and we hope to see you there.
